Description | Riverview Montessori is looking to hire a Full time Montessori Teacher to join our team. Our centre provides an enriched learning environment for children ages three through kindergarten using the Montessori method. This individual would be responsible for teaching in our classrooms using Montessori materials within our prepared environment. They would need experience creating materials and activities on our shelves specific to the current themes or curriculum we are focusing on at the time. They would be responsible for creating lesson plans, specific to the child’s needs, and leading small group lessons following our centres curriculum and philosophy of learning. A successful candidate for this position would need to be passionate about working with children, creative, engaging, and caring. Flexibility, communication, and respect are extremely important, as they will be responsible for following the children and working closely with a professional team of fellow Montessorians. Your focus should be to help create and maintain the most beneficial learning environment for the children as you work towards fostering an overall love of learning! Hours are 8-5, hour unpaid break, but paid in-service days. School year runs September – June, with usual winter and spring breaks. This is a full-time position with a starting salary between $18.00 – $24.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. Pension and benefits are included as well as vacation pay and the possibility of a year end wage top up. We offer a supportive work environment and are looking forward to adding to our team! Qualifications and Assets: - Montessori Early Childhood Teachers Certificate - Knowledge of daycare regulations and licensing requirements - Current 1st aid and CPR -Clear Criminal Record and Child Abuse Check - Ability to plan and teach lessons. - Self-motivated and reliable with a strong work ethic - Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with a team of educators while reflecting the values and beliefs of the centre - Ability to effectively lead group activities and lessons in a caring and engaging manner - Ability to work professional with children, staff, parents and specialists - Good communication skills and ability to apply appropriate guiding techniques and behaviour management - Ability to assist children in development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits - Ability to keep records of children and discuss progress - Ability to identify potential learning or behavioural problems and work towards developing constructive solutions - Ability to provide opportunities to express creativity through art, pretend play, music and movement - Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with parents and families regarding progress or concerns - Possess a strong understanding of child development and be capable of assessing the abilities, interests and needs of the children - Willingness to be flexible and assist with a variety of classroom duties (ie; maintaining daycare equipment, cleaning, preparing snack, preparing classroom materials, etc.) - Must hold or be willing to obtain a criminal record check and child abuse registry check - Must have a current first aid with level C CPR certification |
