Dawn and Dusk Before and After School Program is a 100 space child care program located in John de Graff School at 1020 Louelda St. in North Kildonan.

We are hiring an ECE II Kindercare Leader for a one-year term position, with the possibility of an extension. This position will start as early as April 22, 2024, but we can accommodate a later start date. T

The Kindercare Leader is responsible for ensuring the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Kindercare curriculum, both indoors and outdoors.

The Kindercare Leader will develop a program based on the emerging interests of the children with an emphasis on the great outdoors.  They will work closely with a small group of educators, in their own classroom within the school.

Other key responsibilities of the Kindercare Leader include:

-building and maintaining relationships with our families, the school, and community members

-providing communication to our families through email, our childcare management system, and other avenues such as our website and Facebook page

-creating an aesthetically pleasing room environment

-creating documentation bulletin boards, child portfolios, and writing weekly blog posts

-providing communication to the Board of Directors through a monthly Kindercare program report and attendance at board meetings

-maintaining a high level of professionalism, including upholding confidentiality

-participating in professional development to keep current in the field of Early Learning and Child Care

This opportunity will provide an ECE II with amazing leadership experience, such as:

-leading a small group of educators, including providing guidance in conflict resolution, and positive guidance, mentoring other educators in planning/implementing emergent based activities, conducting Kindercare team meetings

-planning field trips and special events

-working with professionals who are providing support to the children in our care including preparing written documentation and participating in meetings which may include families, and the leadership team, and other professionals

-working closely with members of the Dawn and Dusk Leadership where you will gain valuable knowledge in HR practices, strong mentorship, and Leadership communication skills

The wage for this position starts at $23.75/hr, and is dependent on experience and qualifications.  

Eligible Candidates

Eligible candidates will have:

-a Province of Manitoba ECE II Certificate

-current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks

-a current First Aid and CPR Certificate

-Knowledge of ELCC Regulations

-knowledge of current practices and trends in Early Learning and Child Care

-have strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to lead difficult conversations.

-strong behaviour management skills

-strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines

-have Circle of Security and Commit to Kids training (or willing to obtain)

-have a clear understanding and experience in emergent curriculum

-have confidence to work alone with up to 10 children
