Child Care Assistant

The Playroom is a licensed multi-aged nursery school located within Acorn Family Place, a multi-service family resource centre.  We are looking to hire a summer Child Care Assistant.  The successful applicant will work under the supervision of trained Early Childhood Educators and will participate in activities onsite and offsite/outdoors.  They will have the opportunity to develop their skills in early childhood education within a unique program.

Start Date: June 26, 2023
Hours: 35 hours/week 830-400, Monday to Friday
Hourly Wage Rate: $15.00/hour plus 4% vacation

• Actively engage with children in a play-based environment
• Comfortable with messy, muddy play in all weather
• Ability to speak English required, additional languages an asset
• Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances
• Willingness to work with children and families from diverse backgrounds
• Classification as a Child Care Assistant from ELCC
• Clear criminal record and child abuse registry check – cost will be reimbursed for successful applicant

•Willing to obtain Emergency First Aid and CPR

The Government of Canada funds this job through the Canada Summer Jobs program. To qualify, you must be between 18-29 years of age (inclusive), and legally entitled to work in Canada.
