The Childcare Assistant (CCA) will......

  • Provide a safe, caring and educational environment 
  • May participate in daily bus runs/school pick-up/drop-off
  • Familiarity with emergent curriculum/play-based approach
  • Familiarity with Circle of Security philosophy an asset but not required
  • Ability to take initiative and think outside the box
  • Eligible candidates must obtain/provide: 
    • CCA classification
    • First Aid/CPR
    • Current Criminal/Child Abuse Check
    • Center-provided Circle of Security Training
    • 40-hour child development course completed within the first year of employment 

    • Rate of Pay

    • $17.64 per hour (inclusion)
      Non-inclusion hours are $17.51 per hour with 40-hour training, or $15.30 without

The Ideal Candidate Is

A Childcare Assistant is an individual whose primary responsibility is the care and education of children. The Childcare Assistant will assist the Early Childhood Educators with implementing a curriculum which addresses the cognitive, emotional, social and physical development of children. The CCA will work with a strong team including the program Supervisor, co-workers, family and the Assistant Director, Inclusion Facilitators. Rainbow Day Nursery has children aged from 3 month old to 12 years old. We have 7 locations in total, Southdale, Island lakes and Sage Creek areas. 

The Childcare Assistant (CCA) will......

  • Provide a safe, caring and educational environment 
  • Observe and anticipate children’s triggers and offer tools to help regulate (e.g. deep breathing techniques, fidget gadgets, offering safe places, sensory exploration, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families
  • General daily responsibilities include diapering, assisting children in the bathroom, providing lunch and snacks, outdoor play, activities, and group activities such as circle time
  • The CCA will work a variety of shifts in all programs and locations where the need is.
  • Other duties as assigned
