Election 2025 is important to early learning and child in Manitoba and Canada.

Here in Manitoba, MCCA is fueled by the incredible progress made since 2021. The Canada-wide child care plan has begun a monumental transformation. Families are now accessing affordable child care, there are ambitious expansion plans to create more spaces and we are strengthening the ELCC workforce. Let’s keep the momentum going and build a truly national ELCC system for all.

10 Good Things about the $10/day Plan

It’s a gamechanger for families across Manitoba (and Canada) who are paying far more affordable child care fees.
Manitoba is one of several provinces that has introduced a wage grid; a workforce strategy is anticipated soon.
Early Childhood Educators are earning more; 54% of ECEs in Manitoba have seen a noticeable increase in their wages.
Provinces and territories are implementing ambitions expansion plans so that more families can access additional quality child care space.
Over 300 additional training seats have been opened to grow and support more Early Learning and Child Care Professionals.

The Tuition Reimbursement programs has benefited 603 ECE students in Manitoba.
“$32 billion in additional GDP was generated in 2024 from the combination of increased direct ELCC production, indirect (upstream and downstream) spin-off jobs and increased female labour supply.”[i]
Female labour force participation has grown notably, supported by the expansion of ELCC services (110 additional workers since 2019).[ii]
In March 2024, Parliament unanimously passed Bill C-35: An Act Respecting Early Learning and Child Care in Canada. The all-party support is celebrated as it reinforces Canada’s commitment to early learning and child care system building.
Federal funding for $10/day Child Care Plan has been extended to 2031 to build on the momentum of success.
