Manitoba Child Care Association (MCCA) Winnipeg, MB • Full-Time, Permanent

The Manitoba Child Care Association (MCCA) is seeking a strategic, collaborative, and relationship‑driven Assistant Director to support the Executive Director and strengthen the leadership capacity of the organization. This role plays a central part in advancing MCCA’s mandate, supporting sector advocacy, enhancing member services, and ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations. The Assistant Director also assumes delegated leadership responsibilities in the Executive Director’s absence, providing continuity and stability across the organization.

 

As the Assistant Director, you will:

Operational Leadership

  • Support daily operations, internal workflows, and administrative processes to ensure organizational efficiency.
  • Maintain working knowledge of MCCA and Regional Branch by‑laws and support governance‑related tasks.
  • Assist with membership systems, financial processes, and reporting to strengthen organizational accountability.
  • Respond to inquiries from members, board directors, partners, and stakeholders with professionalism and clarity.

     

Advocacy & Sector Engagement

  • Contribute to MCCA’s advocacy efforts by monitoring emerging ELCC issues, risks, and policy developments.
  • Support government relations activities, including preparing briefing notes, correspondence, and sector updates.
  • Participate in strategic planning and help advance organizational priorities that strengthen the ELCC workforce and sector.
  • Support MCCA’s presence on social media and public platforms to amplify sector messaging.

     

Communications & Public Representation

  • Prepare, edit, and review correspondence, reports, presentations, and public‑facing materials.
  • Collaborate on content for the website, newsletters, and social media channels to support member engagement.
  • Represent MCCA at meetings, events, and sector tables, serving as an alternate spokesperson when required.

     

People Leadership

  • Provide mentorship and support to MCCA staff, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and performance support processes.
  • Review staff schedules, time off requests, and workload alignment to ensure operational continuity.

     

Membership, Committees & Regional Support

  • Support MCCA committees.
  • Assist with volunteer recognition, awards processes, and member appreciation initiatives.
  • Represent MCCA on advisory groups and sector committees to strengthen partnerships and sector alignment.
  • Participate in regional branch activities, visits, and events to support member engagement across Manitoba.

The Ideal Candidate Is

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold an ECE III or related post‑secondary credential with strong knowledge of Manitoba’s ELCC sector.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Bring experience in advocacy, government relations, or sector engagement.
  • Be highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities with sound judgment.
  • Have strong writing, editing, and presentation abilities.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office and online systems.
  • Have a reliable vehicle for travel; bilingualism is an asset.
