Position details:

Predominantly days with one evening shift per week.

Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to)

  • Provide supervision and leadership for the CARE/RO program staff to ensure program objectives are achieved and staff feel adequately supported in their role.
  • Coordinate and monitor the delivery of services (professional development, consultation, etc.) to the sector in collaboration with the Manitoba Early Learning & Childcare Centre (ELCC) 
  • Oversee a province-wide pool of Circle of Security (COS) International facilitators including recruitment, training and mentorship 
  • Liaise with the Provincial Childcare sector to support the expansion of training to childcare providers in Northern, Francophone and other underserviced communities 
  • Strengthen sector‑wide alignment and collaboration by engaging with ELCC leadership structures, participating in ELCC meetings, and linking CARE and ELCC web resources.
  • Oversee the collection of service delivery data and prepare program reports as required by funders 
  • Support a shift in policy change within the Childcare sector  from behaviour management model to meeting relational needs and understanding behaviour as communication.
  • Provide direct support and mentorship to leaders/directors within the Childcare sector to help create, revise and strengthen organizational policies and procedures using an attachment-informed lens. 
  • Facilitate Circle of Security groups and provide ongoing mentorship to other COS group facilitators within the Childcare sector. 
  • Develop and deliver training opportunities for the Childcare sector (including but not limited to attachment and trauma-informed caregiving, cultural humility, supporting staff and families) 
  • Write and publish Newsletters for the Childcare sector and for COS group Facilitators as well as contribute articles on occasion for Bridges a publication of the Manitoba Child Care Association.
  • Provide direct observation, consultation and recommendations to Childcare Centres to strengthen their capacity to meet the needs of specific children in their care. When appropriate, coordinate with the Childcare Centre to provide/offer clinical services to families whose child(ren) are experiencing challenges in their childcare placement.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and professional development as required.

     

  • The salary for this full-time, 70-hour bi-weekly position is $34.32 to $43.24 per hour, dependent upon education and experience. A full benefits package (which includes Health and Dental Benefits, Long Term Disability Benefits, and a Pension Plan) is provided to regular full-time staff.

     

  • The successful candidate will be subject to Criminal Record and Adult/Child Abuse Registry Checks, and Prior Contact Check.  

The Ideal Candidate Is

The successful Candidate will have:  

  • Post-secondary degree/training in Early Childhood Education with education in clinical/social service-related fields an asset (ECE II or ECE III, Social Work, Family Therapy), etc). A combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role in Early Childhood Education.
  • Knowledge of attachment theory with Circle of Security (COS) International Facilitator (Level 1) and Classroom Approach (Level 2) certifications 
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • An ability to facilitate support for the childcare sector and families with a trauma-informed understanding of behaviors (adaptive coping responses) and neurobiological patterns
  • An awareness of cross-cultural factors that impact the support of children and families, including inter-generational trauma and the impact of colonization on Indigenous and settler communities and an ability to work with individuals from diverse cultural, faith, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Proficiency using computers including Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, SharePoint, and internet applications
  • Good time management, organization and accurate record keeping skills with an understanding of confidentiality
  • Creative problem solving with the ability to anticipate and respond to program needs

    Considered assets:

  • An understanding of the nuances of the social services sectors,
  • Knowledge of French 
  • Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL)
