Summit Search Group has been retained by Morris Early Learning Centre on the recruitment of their next Executive Director. Morris Early Learning Centre is a non-profit, childcare organization serving children from infancy through school age in Morris, Manitoba. The Centre is committed to providing high-quality early learning experiences that foster emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development. Through strong partnerships with families and the community, Morris Early Learning Centre delivers inclusive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate programming in a supportive environment.

The Executive Director provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the continued excellence, sustainability, and growth of the Centre. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for translating the organization’s mission and strategic priorities into clear operational plans that support high-quality programming and long-term stability. This role oversees all aspects of the Centre’s operations, including program development, financial stewardship, human resources leadership, regulatory compliance, and community engagement.

As the senior leader of a growing organization, the Executive Director plays a critical role in guiding expansion efforts, strengthening internal systems, and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Executive Director works closely with staff, families, funders, and community partners to ensure the Centre remains responsive to community needs while maintaining the highest standards of early learning and care.

Strategic Leadership & Governance: 

  • Partner with the Board of Directors to develop and implement the Centre’s strategic plan and long-term vision.
  • Ensure compliance with Manitoba Early Learning and Child Care legislation, licensing standards, and all applicable regulations.
  • Prepare and present reports, recommendations, and financial updates to the Board.
  • Represent the Centre at community events, government meetings, and professional associations.

Operations & Financial Management: 

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple programs and locations, ensuring high-quality care and full enrollment.
  • Develop, manage, and monitor the annual operating budget, including government funding and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate financial processes, including billing, payments, and monthly financial reporting.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and accreditation processes.

People Leadership & Community Engagement: 

  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate leadership staff while fostering a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and ratios in accordance with provincial licensing requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, addressing concerns with professionalism and care.
  • Develop partnerships with schools, health services, and community organizations to strengthen programming and community presence.

Qualifications: 

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) III classification (or willingness to obtain) and post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in childcare or early learning settings.
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets, government-funded programs, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with a Board of Directors and diverse stakeholders.
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license, current Child Abuse Registry and Criminal Record Checks (vulnerable sector), and Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
