Full Description
The position is an 8.5 hour day, with a 1 hour lunchbreak, ½ of which is paid. You will also have a 15 minute coffee break.
Our West Kildonan location has five rooms set into age groups, totaling 74 children. We believe in the benefits of being outside exploration, so we spend a large amount of time in our 3 play yards, as well as out in the community.
Planning time is provided for you to be apart of room/toy changes, writing up observations or prepare activities.
We have a separate private staff room for you to utilize on your breaks and planning.
We offer Professional Development group days and fun staff events for opportunity to network and continue to learn relevant topics in our field.
We have staff meetings to engage with all team members, discuss programing, and plan events, with being provided overtime hours.
The Ideal Candidate Is
We are looking for someone to join our enthusiastic and innovate team. Some traits we are looking for in an individual: energetic, flexible, caring, creative and value teamwork. You would be working with younger children therefore having experience would be beneficial.
We focus on pedagogy and a respectful environment with being out in nature or bringing nature into our environments.
We belief in providing play based learning experiences through what the children are showing their interest in . Having a knowledge and experience Emergent Curriculum, as well as, knowing how to create and share learning stories. With theses areas being our focus, follow up activities would need to be provided from observations.
A important trait needed with our centre is communication. You would need to be clear and concise when having conversations with coworker, children and all family members. Throughout the day we mainly use technology to share information with families. Therefore, providing detailed written communication is also important.
