Full Description
Acorn Family Place (AFP) is a multi-service family resource centre providing support, enhancing education, and fostering community. We work together to strengthen children and families on the challenging journey of living and growing. The Playroom is a licensed multi-aged nursery school located within AFP. We provide a stimulating and fun environment to encourage/enhance development in children while their parents are participating in other programming.
We are seeking to hire two summer students for the position of Child Care Assistant. The successful candidates will work under the supervision of trained Early Childhood Educators and will participate in activities both onsite and outdoors. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in early childhood education within a dynamic and supportive setting.
Term: June 30 – August 29, 2025
Hours: 35 hours/week, within the operating hours of 830-430, Monday to Friday
The Ideal Candidate Is
To be eligible, candidate must have:
- Experience working with infants, preschooler and school-aged children, an asset
- Genuine enthusiasm for working with children and families from diverse backgrounds
- A caring and nurturing approach, demonstrating sincere interest and engagement with children
- Ability to follow policies and procedures
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully as a member of the interdisciplinary AFP team
- Strong interpersonal skills and interest in engaging with community in an approachable, nonjudgmental, strengths-based way
- Ability to speak English required, additional languages an asset
- A clear Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Check
- Current First Aid and CPR
The Government of Canada and the Government of Manitoba provide funding for these positions through the Canada Summer Jobs program and Urban Green Team initiatives. To be eligible, applicants must be between 18 and 30 years of age and legally authorized to work in Canada.
