Full Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work in cooperation with the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to support children’s health, safety, and well-being
  • Assist in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
  • Support children’s emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development through age-appropriate activities
  • Provide enhanced supervision and inclusion support for children as required
  • Guide children through daily routines including arrival, departure, meals, rest, and transitions
  • Encourage positive social interactions, independence, and self-regulation
  • Assist with room setup, organization, and cleaning of materials and equipment
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and adherence to centre policies

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of or enrollment in a recognized 40-hour Child Care Assistant course (as required in Manitoba)
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification

Experience:

  • Experience working with children in a childcare or related setting is an asset
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs is an asset

The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient, and team-oriented, with a genuine interest in supporting children of all abilities. They are flexible, calm under pressure, and able to adapt to changing situations throughout the day.

They demonstrate strong communication skills and are able to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers from diverse backgrounds. A willingness to learn, accept mentorship, and follow centre policies and ethical standards is essential.

Experience working with children is preferred, and experience supporting children with additional needs is considered a strong asset.
