Discovery Children's Centre is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, teachable Child Care Assistant to work a term position for 1-2 months with children ages 3 months to 12 years.(with the possibility of the term to be extended) Discovery recognizes the importance of connecting children with nature and the meaningful inclusion of all children. Since Discovery believes gender balance is good for young children, we encourage males to apply.
Hourly wage starts at $19.40 The candidate would work an 8.5 hour day with a 1 hour non paid lunch break. The shifts may vary, all staff must be flexible with their shifts.
The Ideal Candidate Is
Eligible Candidates: Successful candidate must have the following:
- Must have at least 1 year experience working in a childcare environment.
•Current First/Aid/CPR
•A clear Child Abuse and Criminal Record Check (with vulnerable sector)
- 40 hour Child Development Course (would be an asset)
- Commit to Kids certificate (would be an asset)
- Accessible Customer Service certificate (would be an asset)
•Strong English and communication skills
•Must have the Ability to interact Positively with children, families, and staff.
- Positive behavior management skills
•Must be reliable,adapt quickly to change, and possess the ability to take initiative.
•Will be able and willing to work with all children ages 2-12 years in an inclusive setting.
•Will be able to lift weights between 20 – 50 lbs.
- Must enjoy being outdoors for long periods of time
