An ideal candidate for a baker in a childcare centre is someone who combines strong baking skills with a genuine ability to connect with and support children in a safe, nurturing environment.

They should have experience in baking and food preparation, along with a solid understanding of nutrition for young children. Knowledge of allergies, dietary restrictions, and safe food handling practices is essential to ensure all meals and snacks are safe and healthy.

This role is unique in that the candidate will also spend time with the children throughout the day. The ideal person is patient, kind, and engaging, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and be an active part of their daily environment. They may support in classrooms, participate in activities, model positive behavior, and help create a warm, inclusive atmosphere.

They should be reliable, organized, and able to manage their time effectively, balancing kitchen responsibilities with time spent with the children. Cleanliness and attention to detail are critical to maintaining a sanitary kitchen and safe environment.

A strong candidate is also a team player who communicates well with staff, is flexible when needs change, and is willing to step in and support wherever needed.

What We’re Looking For

Candidate to be between 18–30 years of age at the start of employment

Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (as defined under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) and legally entitled to work in Canada

Availability to commit to 8 consecutive weeks over the summer
