Hours of Work*: Monday - Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm

Position Summary
The Child Care Assistant (CCA), as part of a team of Early Childhood Educators and CCAs, delivers child-specific, age appropriate programming to all children in the program in accordance with child development principles. The CCA implement plans and provides programming designed to meet each child’s assessed needs in a manner that promotes positive social, physical, emotional and cognitive development. The CCA maintains a clean and safe environment that encourages healthy interaction and learning.

Qualifications
Education
Child Care Assistant Classification from the Manitoba Child Care Program
Current Infant/Child First Aid and CPR Certificate
Completion of 40-hour “Introduction to Early Childhood Care and Education” – Red River College or online
Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience
Demonstrated understanding of child care approaches and principles and ability to put that understanding into practice
Supervise and engage children throughout the day, during transitions, individual and group activities and free and structured play, within program plans developed at Anne Ross Day Nursery
Observe children in program activities and contribute of the process of assessment (individual children and groups) and design and delivery of programming that meets assessed needs
Use a range of approaches, skills and techniques to optimize each child’s experience and opportunity to learn and develop
Take active steps to identify and manage risks to ensure the safety of all children
Manage behavioral issues in accordance with established policies and practices

Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
