Temporary Termed Co-Executive Director Position (MWF) 

Position Overview:

The Co-Executive Director is responsible for the daily management and operations of our early learning center, delivering high-quality childcare services while providing leadership to additional nursery staff such as a Childcare Assistant for each shift. This position collaborates with the Tuesday/Thursday Executive Director and works closely with the Board of Directors to implement organizational objectives, maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, and ensure excellent care for all children.

 

Term: 13-month contract (May 2025-June 2026, excluding July/August 2025)

*NOTE- The start time for this position is approximately May 2025, subject to change.

Schedule: Part-time (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Hours: 23 hours weekly, including 3.5 hours administrative time. 

(Morning class: 9:15 AM -11:45 PM, Afternoon class: 12:45 PM - 3:30 PM)

Reports to: Board of Directors

 

Qualifications:

  • ECE II or ECE III certification
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (relevant to ages 3-5)
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Early Childhood Education

 

Education Requirements

  • For ECE II: Two-year diploma in Early Childhood Education from a recognized program OR successful completion of a Competency Based Assessment/Prior Learning Assessment recognized by the Early Learning and Child Care Program
  • For ECE III: Approved ECE II program (post-October 31, 1991 requirements) plus specialized program recognized by the Child Care Qualifications and Training Committee (CCQTC)

 

Essential Skills & Abilities

  • Comprehensive understanding of Child Development and ECE practices
  • Thorough knowledge of Early Learning and Child Care regulations
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom meetings, draft monthly newsletters, email communication with parents and staff, and maintain the computer/printer and other technologies in the classroom.
  • Familiarity with the use of the MCCA online site to submit monthly attendance, and update licensing/employee information
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and leadership capabilities
  • Experience working with inclusion and diversity and neurodivergent students would be an asset

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Implement the Nursery School Program with the available resources and follow the Constitution, By-Laws, Operating policies of the Association, and the licensing requirements of the Manitoba Child Daycare
  • Hire, train and supervise Childcare Assistant and all substitutes/classroom support
  • In case time off is required due to illness, the teacher will contact an approved substitute and record on the provided timesheet
  • Use administrative time outside of the regular 8:30am-3:30pm classroom shifts to answer emails, hold meetings and professional development on inservice/coordinated days.
  • Ensure educational standards and confidentiality agreement are maintained; complete and submit the classification child care worker application form
  • Maintain classroom files including a student attendance record, fire drills, student enrollment packages, and staff contracts/payroll log.  
  • Document and report suspected cases of child abuse and/or accidents requiring medical attention according to the MCCA Human Resource Management Guide 
  • Attend monthly board meetings (Zoom) and annual general meetings (in person)
  • Set up and attend the open house (February) and meet the teacher (September) 
  • Arrange with the school principal's office for special events or open gym time
  • Prepare monthly newsletters to parents/caregivers, as well as reports requested from Child Development Services and other agencies
  • Meet with parents of children with allergies and other neurodivergent needs to devise a health care plan and implement as required 
  • Good understanding of the developmental needs of children, and the need to encourage exploration with play materials while promoting independence.
  • Inform parents of children experiencing behaviour or other problems or concerns while promoting positive guidance techniques with the child
  • Ongoing professional development is strongly encouraged (10 hours annually)
  • Create a nursery Gmail account for parents, staff, and board to use as contact.

 

Compensation 

  • Competitive salary in accordance with MCCA Salary Guideline Scale
