About REFENS

We provide a paid lunch break, along with planning and prep time before and/or after class each day. REFENS operates on the RETSD school schedule, with closures during summer, Christmas, and Spring break, as well as all divisional PD days. Our team consists of 2 staff—our lead teacher/director and a teacher’s assistant, who supports the daily operations of the program.

• Team Collaboration: Work closely with the teacher’s assistant, Board of Directors, and staff at the housing school, fostering supportive relationships within the team. Attend monthly Board Meetings and present reports on the program’s daily operations.
• Observation and Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with parents regarding their child’s progress and development. Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural issues and communicate effectively with parents or guardians.
• Licensing Compliance: Ensure compliance to all licensing requirements as outlined in the Best Practices Licensing Manual for Early Learning and Child Care Centres. Maintain ongoing communication with the program's child care coordinator/licensing body, providing regular updates on licensing-related practices.
