Horizons Children's Centre is looking for the right fit to join our family of Educators at our site located in the Access Winnipeg West Building at 280 Booth Drive, and we are hoping that this will be you! Together you will observe and build relationships with children, delighting in their curiosity in order to develop activities and invitations to play based on what you and your team have observed the children showing interest in during their exploration of the classroom with special consideration for enjoying the outdoors. You have a passion for learning about and incorporating culture and language in the daycare community, working in partnership with parents to welcome their children in! Trust and support of children and your coworkers is ensured through open and respectful conversations.
Duties include working collaboratively with the staff team to care for and educate children within the group indoors and outdoors through all routines and transitions to support them fully to meet their developmental goals as unique individuals, working with our team to observe and plan activities, invitations to play and the environment based on what we observe to be the children's interests. An emphasis on play partnering, co-regulation, modeling, and showing support, patience, caring and acceptance is highly important in this role. We are seeking an individual able to engage with the children and our team of educators, encourage and model high standards of care and inclusivity, and who is able to work independently and as part of a team to develop a program where children feel valued, safe and comforted by caregivers that are able to develop a relationship of trust with coworkers, the children, and with their parents.

Previous experience working to support children on the autism spectrum will be given priority consideration. The suitable candidate will preferably have experience in a licensed early learning environment, though training will be provided. Understanding and experience supporting children with challenges in managing emotions and with social skills and peer interactions is an asset. The successful candidate will be available to accept shifts Monday to Friday, within our hours of operation of 6:30am to 6:00pm as required for the program. This position is a term from August 25 - February 27, 2025 with the possibility of extending.
The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers, children, parents and outside professionals is critical both in written format as well as face to face and electronically for this role. Our goal is always to include and support children of all abilities within the daily program. We are seeking a highly reliable, dependable, and flexible candidate who is looking for a long term position on an amazing and collaborative team!
An eagerness to learn as well as the ability to take initiative and engage with children, staff and parents fully is very important for this role.
An understanding of the Circle of Security attachment model, or a willingness to participate in training is highly valuable.
CPR C and Emergency First Aid certification is required, and successful candidates will be required to apply for a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, as well as a Child Abuse Registry Check.
