Description:

  • We are a child care centre licensed for 36 children.
  • We are part of a larger organization ( Thrive Community Support Circle Inc.).
  • We are open from 7:30 am-4:30 pm.
  • We are a funded Abecedarian site ( funding secured until March 2026).  The Abecedarian Approach is a language-based program that prioritizes individual, frequent, and intentional interactions with a small group of primary children. 
  • We practice Circle of Security to build trusting and impactful relationships. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibility is to plan, implement, and evaluate interactions, environments, and experiences based on each child's interests, needs, and potential.  
  • To plan and document the Abecedarian Approach for each of your primary children under the guidance of an in-house Abecedarian mentor.
  • To collaborate respectfully with co-workers to provide a play-based, child-centred environment for infants and preschoolers based on our curriculum statement.
  • To ensure the well-being, safety, and overall quality of care for the children.
  • To work in partnership with caregivers to provide the best care possible for children and families. 

The Ideal Candidate Is

The ideal candidate demonstrates:

  • Genuine love and passion for working with children and caregivers.
  • Lived experience and/or understanding of living in a neighborhood with limited resources and the impact that has on a child's development.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate and have respectful, open communication with all coworkers.
  • Confidence in leading transitions, activities, and managing challenging behavior in a developmentally appropriate manner. 
  • Creativity, leadership, and positive energy.  Bonus points if you enjoy singing with children!
  • Physical and mental ability to work in a busy childcare centre located in an MB Housing apartment downtown. 
  • Interest in learning about the Abecedarian Approach.
  • Interest in learning about the management of a child care centre.
