About ACC: 

Assiniboine Children’s Centre (ACC) is a large and vibrant childcare facility operating 201 spaces for children 12 weeks to 12 years in our three locations.  Assiniboine Children's Centre believes in the importance and individuality of families, their children and the many and diverse demands of the modern family. We believe in the critical importance of a well-trained, caring and creative early childhood staff who provide quality programming, learning, and caring necessary for early childhood growth and development. Duties and Responsibilities: 

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for:

  • Management of all financial, legal, and professional aspects of the organization’s infrastructure as it relates to employees, families, facilities, the Board of Directors, and the community. 
  • The day-to-day management of the organization and the provision of high-quality early learning and childcare. 
  • Develop and manage the processes required for the implementation of the policy decisions of the Board of Directors* to meet the goals and objectives as well as reflect the core values of the organization. 
    • *The ED reports directly to the Board of Directors and provides exceptional management to all areas of the centre.
  • Responsible for the successful leadership, management, and operations of ACC, according to the strategic direction and policies set by the Board of Directors. 
  • Oversees and monitors the quality of ACC’s child programming; oversees staff recruitment, hiring, supervision, and training.
  • Ensures that curriculum meets developmentally appropriate practices and is aligned with Centre curriculum statements and adheres to best practices.
  • Provides leadership, human resources, administration, maintenance of facilities, health and safety systems, and oversees public relations and communications for the centre.

The Ideal Candidate Is

Required Skills & Qualifications: 

  • ECE III as per the Community Child Care Standards Act Regulation 7(1) and (72) 
    • ECE III who has successfully completed an approved ECE II program based on post-October 31, 1991, requirements and possesses specialized training recognized by CCQTC (Child Care Qualifications and Training Committee) in Child Care Management. 
  • Clear Child Abuse Registry check and police registry check for the vulnerable sector. 
  • In-depth knowledge of Community Child Care Standards Act.
  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years senior management experience, managing and leading a team.
  • Certified in First Aid, CPR and Commit to Kids training.
  • Human resources and operational experience.
  • Experience in managing and developing policies, procedures, and childcare programming.
  • Financial comprehension, budget development and management.
  • Deep understanding of government grants and application processes. 
  • Demonstrates a high level of maturity which recognizes the importance of a respectful and supportive workplace. 
  • Is an enthusiastic, imaginative, and proactive team leader who is committed to a participatory management process.
  • Has the ability to problem solve, negotiate and provide consultancy.
  • Able to be agile and adaptable considering changing needs and priorities.
  • Demonstrates ability to solve problems, resolve conflicts, manage crisis situations, make appropriate decisions, and involve appropriate stakeholders when required.
  • Ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and effectively, both in written and verbal forms. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with Child Care Pro, Payworks and Xero is an asset.
