Position Summary

The Manager of Child Care has direct responsibility for the overall management of Anne Ross Day Nursery (ARDN). The Manager of Child Care will manage the centre budget, account receivables and expenditures in consultation with the Director of Early Learning & Parenting Programs. The Manager of Child Care shall oversee staff to create a safe and healthy environment for children, consistent with applicable best practices regulations and legislation, evidence-based practice including Mount Carmel Clinic (MCC) policies and procedures. The Manager of Child Care will ensure that the ARDN program is responsive to the needs of individual children and their families.

Qualifications

Education
Early Childhood Educator III qualification, with specialization in Program Management and/or Special Needs/Children with Challenging Needs
Certification in Infant/Child First Aid and CPR

Skills, Expertise, and Experience 
Minimum of five (5) years working in a licenced day care setting
Minimum of three (3) years of Director Experience
Proven ability to mentor and coach staff, students and volunteers 
Advanced knowledge of provincial requirements for licenced day care settings, best practices in early childhood education
Demonstrated knowledge of budget preparation, basic financial management and program management, evaluation and development;
Knowledge of financial management software specific to early learning and child care
Understanding of the assets, challenges, needs and interests of MCC’s clients and community

Critical Skills
Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-making, change management, problem-solving, crisis management and conflict resolution

Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve goals and produce expected results/outcomes

Certificate or Degree in Child Care Management
