Horizons is strongly based in the Circle of Security approach, so a good understanding of attachment and child development is critical for this role.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for working with the Centre Manager and Executive Director to provide clear guidance and leadership to the Educators, as well as overseeing the programming and implementation of the centre curriculum offerings.

Other responsibilities include staff scheduling and time management, as well as ensuring that adequate coverage is in place each day to meet required ratios.  The Program Coordinator mentors staff both on and off of the floor, ensuring that support is provided for planning time however and wherever needed. 

Creative thinking and the ability to ensure that children, parents, and colleagues feel understood and heard, ensures that the Program Coordinator values how they represent our Horizons Care Community.

This position has its primary responsibilities on the floor working directly with the children and Educators so that you are attuned to the children's interests, and where Educators need support, mentorship and direction.

The Program Coordinator acts as the liaison for the parents, and is responsible for a variety of tasks intended to promote the smooth function of the program day to day. They are responsible for duties as assigned in the absence of the Centre Manager.

Effective communication, and the ability to think outside of the box when conflicts and concerns arise are key skills for this role.

The Ideal Candidate Is

Horizons Children's Centre at the Access site is seeking an experienced ECE II or III to join our team at our location at 280 Booth Drive in the Access Winnipeg West Building.

The ideal candidate for this position is passionate about developing relationships, mentoring, collaborating,  and raising people up!  A strong image of child with an understanding that behaviour is a way of communicating needs is essential for this role, both from children and from adults, parents and colleagues alike!

Our program operates Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm.  Flexible availability within these hours is important.
