  • Horizons Children's Centre is looking for the right fit to join our family of Educators at our three sites located on the second floor of 367 Hampton Street, in the Access Winnipeg West Building at 280 Booth Drive, and at the back of the Grace Hospital in the Dorothy Wood building at 408 Booth Drive, for 6 full time summer positions, running 8 weeks from June 30-August 22, 2025 for 35 hours per week. Together you will observe and build relationships with children, delighting in their curiosity in order to develop activities and invitations to play based on what you and your team have observed the children showing interest in during their exploration of the classroom with special consideration for enjoying the outdoors. You have a passion for learning about and incorporating culture and language in the daycare community, working in partnership with parents to welcome their children in! The suitable candidates will preferably have experience in a licensed early learning environment, though training will be provided. Understanding and experience supporting children with challenges in managing emotions and with social skills and peer interactions is an asset. The successful candidate will be available 35 hours per week Monday to Friday, (7.5 hr shifts per day) for varying shifts between the hours  of 7:00am to 6:00pm as required for the program.

Duties include working collaboratively with the staff team to care for and educate children within the group indoors and outdoors through all routines and transitions to support them fully to meet their developmental goals as unique individuals, working with our team to observe and plan activities, invitations to play and the environment based on what we observe to be the children's interests. An emphasis on play partnering, co-regulation, modeling, and showing support, patience, caring and acceptance is highly important in this role. We are seeking an individual who is able to engage with the children and our team of educators, encourage and model high standards of care and inclusivity, and who is able to work independently and as part of a team to develop a program where children feel valued, safe and comforted by caregivers that are able to develop a relationship of trust.

The ability to communicate clearly and professionally with co-workers, children, parents and outside professionals is critical both in written format as well as face to face and electronically. We are seeking highly reliable, dependable, and flexible candidates who are looking for a position on an amazing and collaborative team!

Experience in a licensed Early Learning and Child Care setting is desirable, and an eagerness to learn as well as the ability to take initiative and engage with children, staff and parents fully is very important for this role.

The successful candidates must be available for the full duration of the position.  An opportunity to remain on as a casual substitute staff will be offered following the completion of the position, to suitable candidates.

An understanding of the Circle of Security attachment model, or a willingness to participate in training is highly valuable.

CPR C and Emergency First Aid certification is required, and successful candidates will be required to apply for a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, as well as a Child Abuse Registry Check.

Horizons Children's Centre is looking for some amazing CCAs to fill 6 of our Canada Summer Job Positions!  

These positions run from June 30 - August 22, 2025 Monday to Friday, with varying shifts as needed by each site.

The ideal candidate for these positions is between 18 and 29 years of age, and must either be a Canadian Citizen, or have Permanent Residency.
