We are seeking 2 individuals for our Canada summer job positions, this position is for 6 hours a day for 9 weeks starting June 22/26
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Cleaner to maintain a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for the children, families, and staff at our childcare centre. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, follows established cleaning procedures, and understands the importance of maintaining a high standard of cleanliness in an early learning setting.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily cleaning of classrooms, washrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas.
Clean and disinfect all high-touch surfaces, including:
Doorknobs and handles
Light switches
Railings
Tables, chairs, and countertops
Outside playground area
Play surfaces
Bathroom fixtures
Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the centre.
Empty garbage, recycling, and compost bins and replace liners as needed.
Clean and sanitize washrooms, including toilets, sinks, and changing areas.
Ensure cleaning supplies are stocked and notify supervisor when replenishment is required.
Follow established health and safety protocols, including proper use of cleaning products and PPE.
Maintain cleanliness in staff areas, entryways, and kitchen/food preparation spaces (as applicable).
Report any maintenance concerns, hazards, or repairs needed within the facility.
Assist with deep cleaning tasks on a scheduled basis (e.g., sanitizing toys, scrubbing walls, thorough floor cleaning).
Ensure all work is completed in a timely manner while minimizing disruption to the centre’s daily programming.
The Ideal Candidate Is
An ideal candidate for a cleaning position in a daycare is someone who is dependable, detail-oriented, and understands the importance of maintaining a safe and healthy environment for children.
They should have strong cleaning skills and knowledge of proper sanitation practices, especially when it comes to disinfecting high-touch surfaces, toys, and washroom areas. Experience with cleaning products and following safety guidelines is important, particularly in a setting where children may be sensitive to chemicals.
Reliability and consistency are key—showing up on time and completing tasks thoroughly ensures the daycare runs smoothly each day. The candidate should also be trustworthy, as they are working in a space with children, staff, and personal belongings.
There will also be times when the candidate will be working alongside or interacting with the children. Because of this, they should be patient, approachable, and comfortable in a childcare setting, always maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
An understanding of health and hygiene standards, such as infection control and preventing the spread of illness, is highly valuable. They should be comfortable following routines and checklists, while also being able to take initiative when something needs extra attention.
Educational Background & Training
- Chid care assistant (CCA) certificate
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Clear Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry checks or willingness to obtain.
- C3P Commit to Kids Child Abuse Prevention Training or willingness to obtain.
- Maintains confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Follows licensing regulations and centre policies.
- Takes time to observe children’s play to understand emerging interests.
- Supports documentation of learning (photos, notes, stories) when appropriate.
- Reflects on their own practice to continually grow as an educator.
- Brings creativity, curiosity, and joy to the classroom.
- Encourages children’s sense of wonder through play, nature, and imagination.
- Keeps calm and cheerful even in busy or unpredictable moments.
What We’re Looking For
Candidate to be between 18–30 years of age at the start of employment
Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or Protected Person (as defined under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act) and legally entitled to work in Canada
Availability to commit to 8 consecutive weeks over the summer
