Festival Early Learning and Child Care Centre (FELCCC) is seeking an experienced ECE III to fill the position of Assistant Director.

Festival Early Learning and Child Care Centre, formally Downs Childrens Centre, has been providing high quality childcare for children aged 12 weeks to 12 years since 1981.  After ten (10) years of planning, we were able to open our new Main Site on Tuesday, August 11, 2020; and began officially using the Festival Early Learning and Child Care Centre name.

Our Main site is located just outside of the West Perimeter and provides childcare from infant to school age; we have a second site located in a school in Westwood, providing childcare for school age children, before school, after school, in-services, spring break and summer; our last location is located in a community centre in Westwood providing care to pre-school and school age children.  We currently have a total of 280 spaces; and are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Some responsibilities include:

§  Working closely with the Executive Director regarding the daily operations of the centre (ex. staff schedules, wait list and enrollment, parent communication, day to day operations of the centres, etc.)

§  Acting Executive Director as designated in their absence

§  Guiding and mentoring staff and working collaboratively with our program Lead ECE’s to ensure the highest standards of care are being offered

§  Overseeing the planning and implementation of a high-quality play-based program to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development with children of all ages

§  Ensuring all staff are adhering to Provincial Licensing Regulations including Best Practices Licensing Manual, Public Health, Workplace Safety and Health, and Employment Standards

§  Being a role model at all times and a professional representative of our organization

§  Helping to provide a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Eligible Candidates

ESSENTIAL:

§  Early Childhood Education Classification III

§  Five (5) years experience working in a child care setting; with three (3) of those years in a supervising position

§  Knowledge of The Community Child Care Standards Act-Manitoba Child Care Regulations

§  Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact effectively with staff, other professionals parents, board members and the general public.

·        Excellent written communication skills including (but not limited to) report writing, funding proposals/requests, grant writing, letters, memos and emails

·        Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to speak in a clear and concise manner

·        Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to effectively manage a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment

·        Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information

·        Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

·        Effective problem solving and decision-making skills

·        Experience using Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

ASSETS:

§  Experience in scheduling, recruitment and retention of staff

§  Leading and Management Diploma

·        Experience implementing and using Fastoche program

·        Experience using PayWorks

·        Experience with all reporting and licensing requirements with Early Learning and Child Care Division

·        Having knowledge of ASL or willing to learn

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

§  Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

§  Satisfactory results of a Criminal Record Check with a vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Abuse Registry Check

§  Current First Aid & CPR with AED

§  Valid Manitoba driver’s license with a satisfactory drivers abstract
