Child Care Assistant

Fairlane Children’s Centre is seeking a summer student or youth (18-30 years of age) to work Monday to Friday from June 5 to September 1, 2023.  This position would be a ideal for University or college students whose field of study is in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Development, Social Work, Nursing or any academic field which requires studies in child development.

Our Centre provides care to infant and preschool children aged 15 months to 6 years of age. We believe in inclusion and staff work with all children including children with differing abilities.  We are located close to the Perimeter and Portage Avenue.  Bus routes for both Portage and Ness avenues are easily accessible.

Salary:

35 hours per week

$15.75/hour

Qualifications:

To be considered for the position the candidate will be required to or willing to obtain:

- CCA classification

- Clear Criminal record check

- Clear Child Abuse Registry check (Vulnerable Sector)

- CPR Level C and Emergency First Aid

Essentials:

The eligible candidate must:

- enjoy interacting with children and possess caring and nurturing qualities

- be willing to work with children 15 months to 6 years of age

- have some experience working with preschool children ( not required but would be an asset)

- be able to communicate effectively

- be dependable, punctual and willing to work an 8 hour shift Monday - Friday.

- model maturity, patience, dependability and professionalism

- be able to demonstrate flexibility and patience

- be energetic and physically able to bend, kneel, crouch and list  kg.

- be between the ages of 18 - 30 years

- be a resident of Manitoba
