Bumper Crop Early Learning Centre, located inside Ecole Waterford Springs School, is seeking a temporary full-time Interim Centre Director for a 12-month term. The centre has 134 licensed spaces for infant, preschool and school age children. The selected candidate will manage the daily operations of the centre and oversee all aspects of the program and is accountable to the Board of Directors. The candidate will maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all children that fosters all areas of their individual development within a group setting. Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the centre and overseeing the following:  Daily staffing plans, subsidy, waitlist, managing child files, Unified Referral and Intake System (URIS), and monthly newsletter
  • Lead a team of educators in a positive manner and providing continual support
  • Provide the vision and leadership for the development of a high-quality program
  • Manage the centre’s finances which includes tracking revenue and expenditures and ensuring that all is proceeding according to the budget
  • Prepare annual budget and funding/grant application proposals
  • Participate in recruitment, performance reviews and training employees
  • Plan and lead staff meetings
  • Monitor and maintain a healthy, safe and hazard free environment that complies with all relevant government regulations
  • Review and update policy documents as required
  • Act as a liaison between the staff and Board of Directors
  • Other duties as assigned

If performance is acceptable, there may be possibility to extend the term or find a permanent role in the centre.

Eligible Candidates

Minimum Requirements:

  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level III Diploma Minimum 5 years experience in a leadership role at a childcare centre
  • Strong knowledge of the ELCC Licensing Manual
  • Excellent knowledge in play-based program planning and implementation
  • Experience operating a childcare and/or Human Resource management
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in the Inclusion Support Program (ISP) with staff and children
  • Knowledge of Child Care Pro software
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Google Forms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
